So just like that, the situation surrounding the proposed Romelu Lukaku deal has taken a fresh twist. After weeks and weeks of suggestions that Inter were the front-runners for the Belgian's signature, along came Juventus to throw a spanner into the works.

Reports had suggested that the Bianconeri were willing to include Paulo Dybala in a proposed swap deal for the 26-year-old, but it now appears that United have set their sights on someone else from Juventus' squad.

The Daily Mail claim that Dybala has not been particularly receptive about the proposition to move to Old Trafford, and that has led United to switch gears and attempt to bring in Douglas Costa as part of the Lukaku move.

The report adds that whilst Costa is also similarly reluctant to leave Italy, it is understood he could still be convinced to make the move to the Red Devils this summer.

After hearing the news of Costa's name being included into the conversation, United fans took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the matter and there was certainly a sense of division.

Some supporters of the Manchester side threw their backing behind the Brazil international plying his trade at Old Trafford for the upcoming campaign.

Others however demanded that United stick to trying to convince Dybala to join them and expressed their concern that the club were "confused" over their transfer plans this summer.
