So the Harry Maguire transfer saga continues to drag on. The Leicester centre-back has been the subject of intense speculation for what feels like forever now, and it appears any potential deal for the England international is going to go right down to the wire.
Reports in recent weeks had suggested that despite the Foxes’ high valuation of the defender, United were still very much “alive” in the chase to sign Maguire.
However, an update from The Daily Mail has now claimed that if the Red Devils can’t convince their Premier League rivals to sell Maguire this summer, then the Manchester side would turn their attentions towards Napoli powerhouse Kalidou Koulibaly.
After hearing the news the 28-year-old was seemingly being seen as a ‘back-up option’ to Maguire, United fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on their club’s choice of centre-back priority.
Many supporters suggested that it should be the other way around and that Koulibaly should be the one United are focusing on this summer.
Indeed, some appeared to blame Ed Woodward for opting to go for Maguire as their first-choice and questioned how it is possible that “Plan B” is better than their supposed “Plan A”.
Check out some of the reaction of United fans below:
That’s like me saying if Susan Boyle rejects me then I’ll just ask Rihanna out.
