Manchester United fans react to Anthony Martial’s 50th goal for the club

Premiership Picks

“Tony Martial, he came from France, English press said he had no chance, 50 million down the drain, Tony Martial scores again…”

French forward Anthony Martial claimed his 50th goal for Manchester United on Monday after scoring in their 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers. And, blimey, what a finish it was.

Having slipped behind the defensive line with a cheeky little run, Martial sent a bullet shot sailing past the crumbling figure of Rui Patricio, who could do little but admire the effort. Needless to say, though, the Portuguese stopper got his revenge later on.

The 23-year-old reclaimed his no.9 shirt this summer after former occupant Romelu Lukaku, who had previously inherited it from Martial when he joined from Everton, departed for Inter Milan. And so far, he’s making a very good case for himself as United’s central striker, with two goals in two games.

As Martial raises his bat for his half century, a number of fans have taken to social media with a host of superlatives…

Impressively, Martial netted 50 goals faster than club icon Cristiano Ronaldo so this could be the start of something truly special (…again).
