After shining in pre-season last year, Andreas Pereira didn’t quite kick on as expected once the competitive campaign got under way for Manchester United.
The Brazilian’s opportunities in the first-team didn’t improve as much following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment either, and he remained on the peripheries of United’s match-day squad for the remainder of the season.
However, according to Simon Jones, writing on The Daily Mail’s live blog (July 4, 16:46), United are in discussions with Pereira over a possible new deal to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

After hearing the news the midfielder’s long-term future could still be at the club, United fans took to Twitter to reveal their thoughts on the decision, and many were left rather frustrated.
Red Devils supporters seemed to think that at 23, the time for the youngster to show his true qualities has passed, with one saying that he will “never be good enough for Manchester United”.
Indeed, some suggested that whilst he could provide squad depth, his presence may actually be halting the progress of some of the club’s other talented youngsters, like Angel Gomes.
Check out some of the reaction of United fans below:
Just don’t play him as a 6, much better as an 8 or even 10. Just another player in the way of Angel unfortunately, really frustrating.

He will be good squad depth but I seriously wonder if he has a higher ceiling than Santi or Dylan.
I believe that to be no so why should he ever play?
