The 25-year-old has shown flashes of why Manchester United forked out big money to sign the centre-back, but his wretched fortune with injuries has curtailed his progress.
The Ivorian was ruled out for four to five months with a knee injury he suffered in a pre-season win against Tottenham earlier this summer, but according to reports, his Old Trafford career may not be over anytime soon.
Despite his contract expiring next summer, The Sun claim United are set to “sit down” with Bailly over extending his deal with the club, and believe the centre-back could still be the perfect back-up for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

After hearing the update on Bailly’s long-term future, United fans took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the club’s reported plans.
Many supporters of the Manchester side were furious with the idea of handing a new deal to a player who had barely featured over the past couple of seasons.
Others however backed the idea, and insisted he is still a “class” player despite his injury problems.
Check out some of the divided reaction of United fans below:
Pay more money for another player that never plays. Seems smart to me.

He’s still class uno. Just made out of glass, would be the best backup CB in the league by far.

He is a solid player he just need a run of play. With the new players they will teach each other to be great players

When was the last time he had a good game for us? When was the last time he had a full game for us? What’s the point of keeping him when he’s not gonna play or play well

If Bailly stays fit – Uniteds defence would be very decent
