After the departure of Ricky Sbragia in May, Manchester United have been on the look-out for a new manager for their Under-23 side.

The academy team won just eight of their 22 games last season and the decision to appoint someone new was marked by the club's desire to shake things up behind the scenes.

Now, The Telegraph claim United are preparing to announce that Neil Wood and Quinton Fortune will take charge of the side as the club continue their efforts to appoint former players in important positions.

After hearing the news of the club's choices for the job, United fans took to Twitter to voice their opinion and many were rather underwhelmed by the situation.

Reports in recent weeks had suggested club legend Nemanja Vidic was amongst the names being considered for the position, and many Red Devils supporters were vocal in revealing their displeasure in seeing the Serbian be passed up for the job.

Some however were completely against the process of trying to entice former players to join the club, and instead suggested that they would be better off simply appointing people who had the right qualifications and skills.
