It was just scripted to happen wasn't it? After the penalty fiasco at Molineux, Manchester United were bound to get another spot-kick against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Lo and behold, Marcus Rashford stepped up, but saw his penalty cannon off the post. Cue social media delirium. Following the debacle against Wolves, United legend and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville admitted his anger at the situation, and claimed he was initially "fuming" with Paul Pogba over his role in it.

Following Rashford's miss against Palace, Neville told Sky Sports he felt it was "probably inevitable" that it happened, and refused to place any blame on the England international for failing to convert his spot-kick.

After hearing the former United star's take on it, Red Devils fans flooded to Twitter to slam Neville for his apparent hypocrisy.

Many supporters of the Manchester side insisted this is another display of "favouritism" and that British players are more "protected" from criticism.

Indeed, some fans even criticised Neville for contributing to the way the situation panned out against Wolves, and revealed they couldn't "take him seriously anymore" following his latest comments.
