Manchester United haven’t given up on Spanish star

Cesc Fabregas, Barcelona, Midfield

David Moyes is still determined to sign Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, reports the Daily Star.

The new Manchester United boss is keen on signing the midfielder from Barcelona, despite reports suggesting the Spaniard doesn’t want to leave the Camp Nou.

Moyes believes that the signing of Neymar for £50million will limit Fabregas’ game time, opening the door for a return to the Premier League this summer. The Catalan giants have also been linked with a move for Fernando Torres, who would play in Fabregas’ centre forward role.

Fabregas played in 32 La Liga matches this season, but he played the full 90 minutes in just 14 of those games. And with Neymar already added to the Barca squad, the Spaniard’s playing time may become even more limited.

The former Gunner scored 11 league goals, while assisting a further 11 for his team mates. Moyes has identified Fabregas as a possible replacement for Wayne Rooney, who handed in a transfer request at the end of the season.

The England international played in an attacking midfield role this season, which upset the forward enough to make him want to leave Old Trafford.

Moyes still believes he can sign the Spanish international, who is valued at £40million by the La Liga champions, who finished with 100 points this season.

Would Fabregas be a good signing for United? Should he leave the Camp Nou?
