The famous saying of ‘a leopard never changes its spots’ has been proven by veteran goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar in a recent comeback game.
The former Manchester United shot stopper came out of at the age of 45 to wear a goalkeeping jersey for one last time as he played a one off match for Dutch amateur outfit Noordwijk.
Capped 130 times for the Netherlands the man who started his career at the Dutch side before moving to Ajax, played his first competitive game in five years and proved he can still make a difference in the competitive field with a fine and characteristic penalty save in a game against Jodan Boys.
As number one choice goalkeeper Mustafa Mare Zine was ruled out of the fixture, former Fulham shot stopper Van der sar was given special permission to play for one more time as it proved to be well worth everyone seeing the tall and well respected goalkeeper starting where he left off as a great keeper.
