Manchester United have moved ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal in the race for Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus, after sending scouts to watch the winger in Champions League action earlier this week, according to reports from The Express.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with the Premier League trio in recent weeks, after news of his £29m release clause broke.
Reus has been one of Dortmund’s key men in recent times, and is thought to be content at the Westfalenstadion.
However, with a clause in his contract, he could be available for a January move.
United chief David Moyes is thought to be particularly interested in the German international, after missing out on a number of targets during the summer.
The Scot has seen his side make an underwhelming start to the season, and is said to have a significant transfer budget ahead of the New Year.
Reus is seen as the ideal man to add greater guile to the club’s attack, and Moyes is believed to have had scouts watching him against Napoli.
United may follow up their interest with a release clause-triggering offer, which will allow them to speak to the wide-man.
