Manchester United plotting mega-money move for Spaniard

Barcelona midfielder Cesc FabregasNew Manchester United manager David Moyes is keen to launch a £40m move for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to reports from The Metro.

The Spanish star has been attracting the interest of Premier League rivals Arsenal of late, with Arsene Wenger believed to be confident that he can lure his former star back to the Emirates Stadium.

But Moyes is hopeful that a big-money move for Fabregas – who is said to be unsettled at the Nou Camp – could get his United career off to a convincing start.

As a result the Scot is willing to blow a large chunk of his transfer budget on the 26-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the finest playmakers on the planet.

Moyes is understood to have made a new central midfielder one of his top targets, with Old Trafford icon Paul Scholes having retired at the end of last term.

Despite coming from abroad, Fabregas has an extensive knowledge of the Premier League, having signed for Arsenal as a youth player in 2003.

He broke into the Gunners’ first-team as a teenager, and went on to make over 200 first-team appearances for the north Londoners before leaving to join Barca in 2011.
