Manchester United are ready to make a £37.3million bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, according to reports from the Metro.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Hummels since the summer transfer window, but were unable to agree terms with the Bundesliga side to complete the switch.
The centre-back has been at the top of Louis van Gaal’s transfer list for some time, and according to German sources the Red Devils are preparing a new bid in order to bring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford.
German publication Bild has reported that United are set to make a new £37.3million offer, which could finally see Van Gaal land his top defensive target and sure up a leaky defence that has cost his side valuable points so far this season.
Hummels has been frustrated with Dortmund’s surprisingly bad form this season, which sees BVB struggling in the relegation zone in 17th place.
