Manchester United ready to axe flop winger

Manchester United are ready to offload Wilfried Zaha just 18 months after signing him from Crystal Palace, according to reports from Goal.

The England international has spent the latter half of this season on loan at relegated Cardiff, where he has impressed during his fleeting displays.

Through his season-and-half spell at Old Trafford Zaha has only been a United player for six months – he was immediately loaned back to Palace in January 2013 – and struggled to get any playing time under then manager David Moyes.

Despite him arriving with a reputation as one of the country’s top players, the Red Devils are believed to be ready to take a £6m hit on £15m they paid for the 21-year-old, which has alerted a host of clubs.

Newcastle, Tottenham, Arsenal and Palace are all said to be keen, with the youngster himself thought to be looking to return to the south of England.

United snapped up Zaha while Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge of the club, yet his replacement Moyes appeared to be far from keen on him.

It remains to be see whether or not their new boss – expected to be Louis van Gaal – will fancy the starlet, who is still being tipped for a bright future despite his current problems.
