Manchester United ready to up interest in Spanish ace

Sergi Roberto (Barcelona)Manchester United are pondering a January move for Barcelona youngster Sergi Roberto, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Red Devils are believed to be in the market for additions this winter, with a central midfielder one of their top targets,

David Moyes was desperate to land such a player over the summer, but failed with moves for Cesc Fabregas, Tiago Alcantara and Ander Herrera during a woeful few months.

Roberto has now emerged as one of the Scot’s top targets as he looks to address the club’s summer failings.

The 21-year-old is some way from being a first-team regular at the Nou Camp, but the La Liga champions’ manager, Tata Martino, has urged him to remain patient.

However, it is rumoured that Roberto may look to make a move away if his chances of action are still limited around Christmas, alerting United.

Spurs reportedly failed with a loan offer for the Spanish U-21 international earlier this year, but that has not deterred the Red Devils.

Moyes is likely to offer the starlet a greater chance of becoming a regular starter, which may tempt him to leave his homeland.

Roberto has managed just 17 minutes of game time so far this season, with the likes of Fabregas, Andres Inietsa, Xavi and Sergio Busquets all ahead of him in the battle for a starting berth.

Could Sergi Roberto become a star at Old Trafford?
