Manchester United manager David Moyes has refused to rule out summer moves for both Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Scot took over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford recently, and is yet to have made major forays into the transfer market to strengthen his inherited squad.
Although he has been linked with Leighton Baines, no concrete big-money bids have been submitted for top stars, which has led some to question whether or not he will be backed in the transfer market by the club’s owners.
However, Moyes says that the money is in place should he need it:
“There’s no budget here, you go get who you want to get, just go and do it.” He is quoted by The Metro.
“We are looking at the best players. I do think it’s important that we show people we are carrying on the traditions and trying to take the club forward.”
When asked specifically about Bale and Ronaldo, Moyes replied:
“I will not name anybody but certainly we are always looking at the best players.
“I think we are trying to strengthen in a couple of areas. We are short in midfield. We are also a club which tends to invest in the youth side, so you can expect us to go for players in that age group.
“We are working hard to make sure the first signing is the right one.”
United have been strongly linked with an audacious move to bring Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, with the Portuguese winger rumoured to be considering his future at Real Madrid.
Meanwhile they are also thought to be interested in Bale, who was voted as Player of the Season during 2012/13.
