Manchester United rival Chelsea in race for Dutch wonderkid

Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van GinkelManchester United boss David Moyes has made Marco van Ginkel one of his top summer targets, and could rival Chelsea’s interest in the player, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Blues have been monitoring the 20-year-old Vitesse Arnhem starlet for some time, and rumours have suggested that a deal is close to completion.

However, Moyes is keen to swoop in and steal the Dutchman from under the nose of Jose Mourinho.

It’s believed that the Scotsman is willing to allocate £15million of his transfer budget to conclude a deal in the coming months.

He sees the playmaker as somebody who could link well with star striker Robin van Persie, and will be hopeful that the ex-Arsenal man can convince his compatriot to reject the Londoners in favour of the Red Devils.

Van Ginkel really announced himself in the Eredivisie last term, with a string of fantastic performances leading to the Dutch Talent of the Year award.

Ajax are also said to be monitoring the situation, but have already confessed that they cannot compete with the financial clout of Premier League sides.

Chelsea boss Mourinho is believed to have made the wonderkid his top summer target and is willing to spend big, which could spark a bidding war between the two clubs.
