Manchester United set to miss out on top target

Manchester United look set to miss out on another top transfer target, with reports from The Mirror suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain are set to tie up a stunning loan move for Angel di Maria.

The Argentine winger is understood to be one of the players Louis van Gaal is desperate to get to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes, with Saturday’s loss to Swansea having illustrated the Red Devils’ lack of squad depth in a number of roles.

Reports have revealed that United are ready to pay around £50m for Real Madrid ace, with claims from vice-chairman Ed Woodward insinuating that they have the financial clout to make up for a lack of Champions League football.

United were believed to be leading the race for Di Maria as PSG’s stance swayed thanks to Financial Fair Play restrictions, but now the Parisians are set to push a stunning loan agreement.

The move would open the door for a £52m full switch next summer, which, some have insinuated, is a way to get around the cash flow-stemming restrictions being aimed at the Parc des Princes.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti has already hinted that Di Maria will be sold and the player himself is believed to be more open to PSG than United.
