Manchester United set to revive transfer interest

Fabio Coentrao (Real Madrid)Manchester United are set to reignite their interest in Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao once the transfer window re-opens, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The Red Devils came close to concluding a loan deal for the Portuguese international on deadline day, but were unable to get the move processed in time.

As a result, his proposed switch to Old Trafford collapsed, leaving him remaining on the peripheries of Real’s squad.

Under new boss Carlo Ancelotti Coentrao is believed to be surplus to requirements.

David Moyes is keen to draft in a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra, and sees the 25-year-old as the ideal candidate for the role.

Everton’s Leighton Baines remains a target, however the Scot’s former club’s reluctance to sell could scupper a potential deal.

Coentrao is readily available, which could allow Moyes to tie up a quick move over the winter.

Tottenham are also interested in the left-sided player, and may up their pursuit if United make a serious move for his signature.

Coentrao has claimed that he is happy to be at the Bernabeu, but he could be tempted to leave in January if first-team opportunities are still few and far between.

Fabio Coentrao? Leighton Baines? Who should David Moyes move for?
