Speaking to Sky Sports, Anthony Martial has revealed some of the secrets to Manchester United's attacking success.

What did he say?

The Red Devils kicked off the Premier League campaign with a bang, netting four goals against rivals Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford and Martial accounted for three of the goals on the day, before the latter got in on the act again against Wolves at Molineux.

Now, the Frenchman has opened up on the friendly competition the strike duo have in training, and revealed how they combine together during the game to cause maximum damage.

He said: "At training, we have this competition between us about scoring goals. We measure who does the best finishing and who scores the most.

"Who's winning? Well, that depends... Sometimes it's him, sometimes it's me. In games, Marcus likes to play in the middle, like me. I don't mind dropping off, dropping out, we interchange during games. It doesn't bother me to let him take the lead occasionally. It helps us to terrorise opposition defences and I hope we can keep it up over the course of the season."

Ruthlessness

Martial has always been regarded as a clinical finisher, but his move into the number nine role this season is already beginning to pay big dividends. The 23-year-old has spent the majority of his Old Trafford career out on the left-wing, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has publicly admitted he wants the former Monaco star closer to the opposition goal.

His finishes against both Chelsea and Wolves were ruthless, and his movement provided evidence he could be a genuinely lethal centre-forward. Romelu Lukaku's departure has opened the door for the likes of Martial and Rashford to take advantage, and their goal-scoring start will certainly boost their confidence going forward.
