Manchester United star wants Spaniard to join Old Trafford revolution

Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas

Rio Ferdinand wants to see Cesc Fabregas in a Manchester United shirt next season, reports the Metro.

The Premier League champions have made the former Arsenal captain their priority target this transfer window.

With rumours speculating that David Moyes will offer up to £40million for the midfielder, Ferdinand has said the Barcelona man would be a great addition to the Red Devils squad.

“I don’t know what’s happening, we [the players] just listen to the news and ready everything online and wait and see,” the Red Devils defender said.

“Any quality player like him that comes to Manchester United is welcomed with open arms – and he is a quality player.”

Fabregas is expected to announce his intentions in the next coming days, despite Barcelona repeatedly stating that the 26-year-old is not for sale.

The future of the former Arsenal midfielder is in doubt after Barcelona spent £50million on Brazilian star Neymar. With first team opportunities possibly limited, United are ready to smash their transfer record to secure his services.

Any deal for Fabregas now looks likely to cost much more than the £30.75million that was spent on signing Dimitar Berbatov in 2008.

David Moyes will hope to have Fabregas in his squad by August 17th, when United kick start their new title campaign against Swansea City.

Will Fabregas move to Old Trafford? How much is he worth?
