Nemanja Vidic’s agent has quashed claims that the Serbian defender is looking to leave Manchester United.
Italian giants AC Milan are said to be monitoring the enforcer, whose future at Old Trafford has been the subject of debate for some time.
With David Moyes now manager, a period of change is expected at the Premier League champions, which has led to rumours that Vidic could leave.
But, his agent, Silviano Martina, had denied claims that the 31-year-old is seeking a move away from United:
“We are talking with no-one. This is all pub talk.” He is quoted by The Mirror via Fantagazzetta.
“This is the first time I heard that news and I don’t know where it came from.
“We’re talking about the captain of Manchester United here, not just any player. Vidic has no problems with United – all the talk is hot air.”
Vidic has spent large chunks of the past few seasons on the treatment table, with a series of niggling injuries limiting his chances of first-team football.
However, he is still thought to be a valued member of the Red Devils’ squad, and is likely to keep that status for the coming few campaigns.
The rugged Serbian joined United from Spartak Moscow in 2006 and has developed into a fans’ favourite thanks to his robust and consistent performances.
Manchester United fans, is it a relief to hear that Nemanja Vidic wants to stay?
