Manchester United stars angry with wantaway striker

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney‘s desire to leave Manchester United has angered his current team mates, according to the Independent.

The England forward has been heavily linked with a move out of Old Trafford, and reports have even said he will hand in a transfer request later this week.

But while the rumours continue, it appears it has had an effect on some of other United players. Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs are reportedly unhappy that their pleas with Rooney for him to stay have been ignored.

The forward didn’t travel with the club to take part in a friendly in Sweden due to a shoulder injury. The news came just shortly after it was revealed the club had rejected a second bid from Chelsea.

The news of his team mates’ relationship with him being strained will support Rooney’s claim that his position at the club is untenable, and could potentially help him in his desire to leave Old Trafford for a fresh challenge. The forward is also expecting a mixed reception from the supporters, which will also help his claims that he cannot stay.

United’s strong stance that they will not sell their star players to Premier League rivals looks set to be tested once more.

Should Rooney leave the club? Is he hurting the supporters who loved him?
