Manchester United target Bundesliga ace

Neven SuboticManchester United have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund centre-back Neven Subotic, according to reports from TuttoMercato.

Red Devils chief David Moyes is believed to have made defensive reinforcements one of his top priorities for the coming transfer windows, having upped his midfield options with the signature of Marouane Fellaini.

The Scot is growing increasingly aware that Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are entering the twilight period of their respective careers and is keen to draft in a new man to lead his defence.

Subotic – who has been dubbed ‘the new Vidic’ thanks to his rugged displays for the Bundesliga giants – has helped Dortmund to German league titles and a Champions League final appearance last term.

Despite this, the 24-year-old is believed to be available for around £21m – a sum that United can easily match.

However, the Premier League champions will have to battle off interest from Bayern Munich to seal a deal.

United have raided Dortmund in recent history to take Shinji Kagawa to Old Trafford, and are confident that they can repeat the same trick for Subotic.

Manchester City have also been linked with a move for the Eastern European star and may up their interest if their rivals make a serious move.

Could Neven Subotic be the next great Manchester United defender?
