Manchester United target open to January move

Athletic Bilbao Ander HerreraAthletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera would consider a January move to Manchester United, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Premier League champions failed with a £26m deadline day offer for his signature, with the Spanish side holding out for £30.5m – a figure that would activate his buyout clause.

It has been speculated that the Red Devils will make another effort to lure the 24-year-old to Old Trafford in 2014, with manager David Moyes still keen to add further creativity to his midfield ranks.

Herrera denies that he underwent a medical with United or agreed personal terms this summer, but says that he doesn’t know what will happen in the future, opening the door for a big money move.

“A United offer came and I can only view that as a positive reflection on what I have been doing,” Herrera said.

“At no time, despite what anybody reported, did I undergo a medical for United nor did I sign any contract with them. As for the future, you never know what might happen.”

Manchester United did pull off the signing of Marouane Fellaini, with the former Everton man following Moyes to the club from Merseyside.
