Manchester United target set to stay

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has yet again reiterated the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, the Mail has reported.

Following his appearance back in England on Monday night, where he scored twice in a pre-season friendly match against Bournemouth, talks about a possible return to Manchester United have yet again surfaced. However, Ancelotti has spoken out in an attempt to finally put an end to the rumours.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the most important player in this team,” Ancelotti said.

“He has the best quality. He is always working to do his best every time. When he does we will have a great opportunity this season.

“As I said he is the most important player of Real and his future will be at Real Madrid. There is no question about this.”

Ronaldo had previously spent seven years in the Premier League, making it known that he still loves United and many reports have linked him to a return to Old Trafford.

He had tweeted that rumours his contract renewal at Real Madrid were false, and this was just one of the reasons behind the mass speculation regarding a move back to Manchester. Ancelotti however is clearly adamant on ensuring the Portuguese international remains in Spain, and leads the team to La Liga glory.

There was less certainty surrounding the future of Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain however, who has been linked to both Napoli and Arsenal recently.

The Italian manager said: “It is not true. I do not have any news about this. I spoke to Higuain this week. He is a Real Madrid player and until we have news we consider him a Real Madrid player and he will stay with us.”
