Manchester United target triple transfer swoop

Manchester United are considering January moves for Ilkay Gundogan, Leighton Baines and Ander Herrera, according to reports from The Express.

Red Devils chief David Moyes has endured a tough start to his career with the Premier League champions, and is set to be backed heavily by the club’s hierarchy once the transfer window re-opens in a bid to improve the team’s on-field fortunes.

The Scot missed out on a number of targets over the summer, leaving him able to add only Marouane Fellaini to his ranks.

He is desperate to right the club’s wrongdoings in the New Year, and has highlighted Baines, Gundogan and Herrera as three of his top targets.

Herrera was linked with a move to Old Trafford a matter of months ago, but a proposed deal fell through.

United have remained keen on the Spaniard, and are set to launch a fresh move next month.

Gundogan is also seen as an option to strengthen Moyes’ midfield, with the German hailed as one of the Bundesliga’s finest talents.

Borussia Dortmund are far from keen to sell, but may be forced to do so if the German international pursues a move.

Baines remains the champions’ top target, with a long-term successor to Patrice Evra at left-back a priority.

The rampaging defender is thought to be keen to reunite with his former boss, which could open the door to a switch.
