Ronaldo has been linked with a move back to Old Trafford as rumours suggested he was unhappy at the Bernabeu.
But it now seems that new manager David Moyes won’t be signing the 28-year-old, as high spending Monaco are set to offer Real Madrid €100million for his services.
The French club are funded by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, and have already spent over £110m this summer on Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho. But they are now ready to continue their spending with an audacious bid for Ronaldo, and are set to offer him a world record salary offer of £17million-a-year.
Ronaldo spent six seasons with Manchester United, where he became one of the best footballers in the world, leading to his £80million transfer to Real Madrid.
Last September, Ronaldo didn’t celebrate two goals that he scored for Madrid, explaining that it was because he was “unhappy” with the club. This led to questions of whether he would return to the Premier League and become David Moyes’ top signing.
But Monaco look set to be leading the race for Ronaldo’s signature, as they continue their stunning spending spree.
Would Ronaldo be wasted in Ligue 1? Should United break the bank to re-sign him?
