The Borussia Dortmund forward currently earns £40,000-a-week, but David Moyes is preparing to offer the striker £90,000-a-week to secure his services this summer.
Lewandowski was expected to join Bayern Munich this transfer window, but Dortmund are adamant that they will not let the star forward join their league rivals, who won the treble this season.
The news came as a surprise to the Polish forward, but he didn’t seem too deterred by the club’s stance.
“I do not think that this is the final decision and I expect the situation to change,” Lewandowski said.
“I am enjoying my holiday for now but I hope things move forward pretty soon and the situation changes.”
United have been told they can sign Lewandowski for £25.5million, who only has a year left on his contract at Dortmund. The German club are looking to offload the 24-year-old this summer, or risk losing him for free in 12 months time.
Lewandowski scored 24 league goals for Dortmund this season, just one behind the Bundesliga’s top scorer Steffan Kiessling.
The Pole also scored four goals in the first leg of the club’s match against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
Will Lewandowski join United? Or do you think he will force a move to Bayern?
