Manchester United turn transfer attentions to La Liga

Argentine Angel Di Maria

Manchester United are considering a move for Angel Di Maria, according to the Daily Star.

The Real Madrid ace’s position is under threat by potential signing Gareth Bale.

And whilst Tottenham had expressed an interest in signing the 25-year-old, David Moyes may look to bring the winger to Old Trafford instead. The Scot is yet to make a big name signing since taking over as United manager, and could turn his attention to Di Maria after missing out on Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara.

PSG are also reportedly interested in the Argentine, who has insisted he won’t be departing the Bernabeu this summer. But Moyes is hoping the possible signing of Bale will push Di Maria further down Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order, opening him to a move to Old Trafford.

United have been heavily linked with Di Maria’s teammate Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, with rumours linking the Portuguese star with a shock return to Old Trafford. Rumours increased when Antonio Valencia changed his squad number back to 25, leaving the number 7 shirt vacant.

But Moyes could move for his teammate, who could be looking for more first team opportunities if Bale joins Los Blancos.

United kick off their new season against Swansea City on Saturday evening.

Would Di Maria do well at Old Trafford? Is he what United need?
