Speculation has been rife this summer linking the Portuguese star with a move back to the Premier League as Real Madrid changed managers with Carlo Ancelotti taking the helm at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the stars of world football at the moment. Since moving to the Bernabeu in 2009 he has scored a remarkable 133 goals in 119 appearances – a record unmatched by almost any player. He has consistently stated how much he loves Manchester United and this has sparked rumours about a possible move to Old Trafford.
Yet, Mourinho, always one for mind games stated that “What I know is that Real Madrid are such a rich club they don’t need to sell and are such a rich club that I think they can beat any offer a club can have on Ronaldo.”
Mourinho was less certain over where Cristiano Ronaldo’s long term future lies but Real Madrid President Florentino Perez states that he will end his career in the Spanish capital.
Whether new United manager David Moyes has the same ‘pull’ factor as his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson also remains to be seen.
Ronaldo was in England this week and scored twice as Real Madrid put six goals past Bournemouth in a pre-season friendly.
Is it the right time for Ronaldo to come back?
