According to Tuttosport, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has given Anthony Martial the green light to join Juventus in this summer's transfer window.

What's the story?

Martial's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, with the Frenchman reportedly tired of his lack of starts since Alexis Sanchez made the move to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who is valued at £58.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, was in the team that faced Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday night, but he struggled to make an impact, and was indirectly criticised by Mourinho after the 1-0 defeat.

According to Tuttosport, Mourinho cannot see a future for the former Monaco youngster at Old Trafford, and United boss is prepared to sell at the end of the season.

The report adds that United's board are yet to make a decision on the future of Martial, but his career with the Red Devils appears to be coming to an end.

Will United regret it?

Mourinho has made some high-profile mistakes in the past, with Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah both coming good after leaving Chelsea.

United also lost Paul Pogba on a free transfer before being forced to pay close to £90m to re-sign the Frenchman in the summer of 2016.

Martial has not really had an extended spell in the United first XI this season, but has still managed 11 goals and nine assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.

There is no question that the left-sided attacker is a wonderful talent, and it would be a huge mistake if the Red Devils lost him at this stage of his career.

The problem, however, is that Mourinho favours Sanchez's experience in the left forward position, and it is doubtful that the situation will change next season.

It would not be a surprise to see Martial, who has also been linked with Chelsea, seek pastures new in this summer's transfer window, but there is every chance that United will be made to regret it in a few years.
