Jose Mourinho will make a move to lure Palermo’s Franco Vazquez to Manchester United, should he succeed Louis van Gaal in the Old Trafford dugout, according to reports from The Express, citing Corriere dello Sport.
The Portuguese tactician is currently out of work after being dismissed by Chelsea last month, but since his sacking he’s been heavily linked with a shock move to the Red Devils to succeed the under pressure LVG.
Although there is no indication that the Dutchman will be officially sacked just yet, or that Mourinho will be instated as his replacement, reports claim that the ‘Special One’ is already looking at potential targets, with Vazquez on his agenda.
The Italy international – who was born in Argentina – is known to be one of Serie A’s leading playmakers, having notched 16 assists since the start of the 2014/15 season.
Adding further fuel to the speculation fire, Vazquez’s previous manager, Davide Ballardini, recently claimed that his former player “deserves” to play for a club like United.
