Memphis Depay has receieved a monumental boost from Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, report the Sun.
The Dutchman endured a difficult debut season with the Red Devils since joining the club for £25m from PSV Eindhoven last summer.
One of the most highly rated burgeoning talents in the continental game, the winger was dropped from Louis van Gaal’s side for the latter part of the campaign.
Scoring just two goals in 29 games for the club, he cut a frustrated figure at the Theatre of Dreams, despite some good performances in European competition.
However, Mourinho has backed the 22-year old to develop into one of the premier talents in Europe, quelling suggestions he does not have the right mentality.
“You can see him driving a nice car and you think this guy is not thinking about football”, said the Portuguese coach.
“But that is not the case.
“The kid thinks about football, the kid suffers because he is frustrated with what happened last season where he lost all his confidence.”
