Mourinho to strike fear into hearts of Man United’s rivals with blockbuster transfer

According to reports from Manchester Evening News, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is confident of making a ‘statement signing’ during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have already secured one summer signing in £30million man Eric Bailly but according to MEN, Mourinho wants another that will make the club’s Premier League rivals ‘sit up straight’.

Top target Paul Pogba certainly falls into that remit, having flourished into arguably the top midfielder in world football since leaving Old Trafford four years ago.

Indeed, the Juventus star has gone on to lift four Serie A titles, reach a Champions League final and represent France at a World Cup and European Championship.

However, Mourinho remains pessimistic of signing the 23-year-old amid rivalled interest from across Europe.

A deal for striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is significantly more likely, whilst the Red Devils are also targeting Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan – who bagged 23 goals and 32 assists last season.
