David Moyes is confident Manchester United can bounce back from their Champions League defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich, reports the Guardian.

Bayern's 3-1 victory in the Allianz Arena saw them progress at United's expense with a 4-2 aggregate victory, and means United are set to be without Champions League football next season for the first time since 1995-96.

United currently occupy seventh place in the Premier League, seven points behind fourth placed Arsenal with just five games remaining.

Yet Moyes remained bullish, insisting it won't be long before United are back amongst Europe's elite.

"We won't have Champions League football [next season] but I don't think it is far away," Moyes said.

"We need to rebuild, and our focus now is to get a team that can get back in this competition. My job is just to get on with it. [This] is disappointing but the focus now is that we get a team ready to get back in there. It's a great competition, we've really enjoyed it and we need to get back in it."

Man United midfielder Michael Carrick also insisted his team can mount a title challenge next season, despite being 17 points behind current leaders Liverpool.

"It was always going to be tough tonight and we're not in the Champions League next season, not necessarily because of tonight but because we have been weak and haven't been good enough over the season," Carrick said.

"We need to finish the season as best we can and come back believing we can win the title and qualify for the Champions League."
