New Manchester United man hails Moyes

Marouane Fellaini - EvertonNew Manchester United signing Marouane Fellaini says that David Moyes had a huge bearing on his decision to move to Old Trafford.

The big-haired Belgian completed his long awaited £27.5m switch to Old Trafford from Everton last night after making late moves to push through the deal.

Fellaini worked under Moyes at Everton since 2008, when the Scot brought him to England from Standard Liege.

The 25-year-old admitted that it’s a dream come true to have joined United, and that reuniting with his ex-boss was a big factor.

“I have known the manager for many years now and I have a lot of respect for his way of working,” he told the club’s official website.

“When I was given the opportunity to work with him again, I jumped at the chance.

“I had a fantastic time at Everton and I’d like to thank all the fans and staff there for everything they have done for me. But being a Manchester United player is something that every player dreams of and I believe that I can make a real contribution to the team’s efforts to win trophies in the future.”

Fellaini completed his move to the Premier League champions late on deadline day after handing in a transfer request to push through the deal.

Everton were far from keen to lose one of their star men, but were unable to keep him at Goodison Park against his will.

United were also linked with Leighton Baines, but were unable to complete a double swoop.
