When Paul Pogba first to returned to Old Trafford, not everybody was convinced by the Manchester United midfielder’s world-record transfer fee.
In fairness, the Frenchman’s second tenure with the Red Devils started in somewhat unspectacular fashion as Jose Mourinho struggled to decide on his role in the engine room.
But in recent weeks, Pogba has found himself as the most forward-thinking element of a midfield triplet alongside Ander Herrera and veteran Michael Carrick.
The 23-year-old’s performances have steadily improved and he produced arguably his best Premier League display yet last night when Man United travelled to the south of London to face Crystal Palace.
Pogba finished up with a goal and an assist (and the Man of the Match award) to his name as United claimed a 2-1 win over Alan Pardew’s side.
But as you can see from our infographic, his all-round performance was equally impressive, completing 100% of his tackles, winning six aerial duels and taking 122 touches of the ball – the most of any player on either side.
Suddenly, those hyperbolic hacks and exaggerating pundits criticising the powerful midfielder are becoming much harder to find…
