Pogba deal not the end… Man United boss wants one more transfer & to axe big quartet

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United transfer business is not yet done despite the club’s mega move for Paul Pogba, with the Telegraph claiming a commanding defender is wanted, while Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marcos Rojo, Juan Mata and Daley Blind are all available for transfer.

The Red Devils confirmed their £89m move for Pogba in the early hours of Tuesday morning, bringing months of speculation to an end.

However, even though his sizable fee adds to the £30m and £26.5m sums paid for Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, reports claim that Mourinho is still keen to sign an authoritative central defender, but only once his squad has been slimmed.

It’s understood that Schweinsteiger leads the list of players he’s willing to axe, with Mata, Rojo and Blind, all of whom are senior internationals, also available.

‘Mou’ is open to keeping the latter trio, but the Germany international has no future at Old Trafford, despite having only been signed last summer.

‘The Special One’ remains keen on snapping up a new centre-back to complete the spine of his new-look team, with Leonardo Bonucci a name to have been mentioned in recent times.

As well as Schweinsteiger, Mata, Rojo and Blind, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Memphis Depay’s futures are unclear, while Adnan Januzaj is a player the Portuguese boss would like to sell.
