Manchester United have been boosted by the news that Paul Pogba trained with the team ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Sevilla in Spain.
Pogba missed United’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup on Saturday through illness, and it had been thought that the Frenchman would miss out in Seville.
The 24-year-old trained alongside his teammates on Tuesday morning, however, and is expected to come straight back into the XI for the first leg of their last-16 tie at the Estadio Ramon.
Pogba’s recent form has been called into question, but head coach Jose Mourinho has been quick to play down suggestions of tension between the two.
Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were also part of United’s training group on Tuesday, meaning that Mourinho has received a huge boost ahead of the tie.
Eric Bailly, meanwhile, made his long-awaited return as a late substitute against Huddersfield, and the Ivorian could be set for a starting role in Spain as United look to pick up a positive result ahead of the return match at Old Trafford next month.
Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Marouane Fellaini, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian, however, were not spotted during the training session, placing their involvement in doubt.
