It looks set to be a close-knit affair for a number of reasons. Firstly, recent meetings between the two clubs are split right down the middle, with both sides claiming three wins from their last six encounters.
Secondly, the Red Devils and the Toffees are both enduring rather underwhelming campaigns but have claimed ten and nine points respectively from the last 18 on offer.
Thirdly, whilst Louis van Gaal’s side boast the second-best goals conceded record in the Premier League, Roberto Martinez’s boys have scored the most goals – an impressive 51 – of any club outside the division’s top four.
So with not much to choose between the hosts and the visitors, predicting the likely result is proving rather difficult. Perhaps a look at the official starting Xis, confirmed on Twitter just moments ago, can shed some light on this afternoon’s outcome.
