Proof that Man United ace should be starting

Everton‘s blistering first half against Manchester United in their Premier League clash at Goodison Park on Sunday saw the Toffees go into the break 2-0 up after playing some of their best football all season.

After long-serving left-back Leighton Baines whipped in the corner which led to Everton’s second goal, the England man notched up his 18th Premier League assist in 3 seasons; at least 6 more than any other defender in that time. The 30 year-old defender fourth on the list for most assists this season – just one behind a certain Angel Di Maria.

The Argentinian winger started the game on the bench for the Red Devils and after his teammates huffed and puffed in the first half, producing few clear-cut chances as Everton deservedly led the game, there is surely an argument to be made that Di Maria should have started to the game to add an extra creative edge to a United side that were struggling in the final third.

Is it time for LVG to unleash his £60-million assist machine in the second half?
