Since Qatari owners first brought their millions into PSG, one name has been on their lips as a dream signing to make to push the club to their holy grail – winning the Champions League. That name is former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Winning the European cup is something only one French club has done, though Monaco, St Etienne and Reims have all been beaten in finals.
PSG, given their dominance in France, are looking to the Champions League as the measure of their success, and players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani put them in a good position to do it this season.
But Four Four Two report that Captain Thiago Silva has told French media that he hopes the club can sign him before the Portuguese forward’s contract runs out in 2018.
“I love the player Ronaldo is. He has had an incredible career,” Thiago Silva told L’Equipe ahead of the two clubs’ Champions League meeting on Tuesday.
“I hope the PSG president can find an agreement with Ronaldo’s agent, so he can continue his career here. It would be much better to play with him than against him.”
Manchester United fans will hope this isn’t true, and that Ronaldo will move back to his spiritual home of Manchester United once he’s done strutting his stuff in Madrid.
