The youngster recently signed a five year deal to keep him at Old Trafford, but prior to signing he would have been able to pen a pre contract agreement with another club as early as January.
The 18-year-old has gone on to firmly establish himself in David Moyes’ first-team plans this season after a superb brace earned United a crucial 2-1 win at Sunderland three weeks ago.
But it has now been revealed that PSG had plans in place to bring the youngster to the Parc de Princes, and that they spent several weeks trying to persuade Januzaj that his future lay in France.
According to reports in France, the Ligue 1 champions were quick to contact the players agent when it appeared talks over a new deal at Old Trafford had stalled.
However, once United became aware of PSG’s serious interest, they moved quickly to tie up the deal.
After signing the deal Januzaj said: “It’s a great thrill to be able to sign for Manchester United.
“Since arriving here I have always felt like this was the right club for me.
“This season has been great for me – going on the pre season tour, making my debut in the Community Shield win at Wembley and then breaking into the team at Sunderland – it’s like a dream.
“I want to work hard now and establish myself as a Manchester United player.”
Manchester United fans, is it a relief to know that Adnan Januzaj is staying?
