PSG want Wayne Rooney to replace unsettled star

Wayne Rooney, Manchester United strikerParis Saint-Germain will turn to Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney if Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaves the club this summer, according to reports from The Mirror.

Speculation surrounding the Red Devils striker’s future has been rife of late, with some suggesting his high-profile exclusion from their Champions League clash with Real Madrid has signalled the end of his time at Old Trafford.

One club to have been mooted as a possible destination for Rooney is PSG, who could be losing their current attacking talisman Ibrahimovic at the end of the season.

The Swedish international is rumoured to be fed up with lift in Paris, and looking to leave despite only signing for them last summer.

If he does elect to move on, the Ligue 1 side’s mega-rich Qatari owners will look to Rooney.

Although Sir Alex Ferguson has rubbished talk the England international will be leaving United, with two years remaining on his contract his future is far from certain.

With Robin van Persie now the club’s main striker, Rooney could be moved on to clear his estimated £250,000-per-week wages from their expenditure.

PSG certainly have the financial muscle to pull off a deal, and despite an unfavourable tax rate on high earners in France, could persuade the former Everton man to leave the Premier League.
