Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool great Graeme Souness has passed comment on the Manchester United players after their embarrassing mauling at the hands of Everton.

What's he said, then?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men put in a tepid display at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon, falling to a shock 4-0 defeat courtesy of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott strikes.

It was one that really dented the Premier League top four hopes of the Old Trafford club as they now look set to miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification for next season altogether.

And working with Sky Sports on the match, Souness had this to say on the Red Devils stars:

"That was a team in their armchairs - not a team trying to qualify for the Champions League, it was a team that was plodding, drifting and going through the motions.

"The manager needs support because there was no fire from start to finish."

Spot on, Souness hits the nail on the head

This time, the controversial Souness has got it spot on about the United players following their lazy afternoon on Merseyside, hitting the nail on the head.

A lot has gone on in Manchester this campaign and at the moment, it looks like it's all caught up with the squad, hence why they are appearing like "a team in their armchairs."

The Champions League exit has taken something out of them and as they fall out of serious top-four contention, they appear to be accepting their fate of fifth or maybe even sixth - on the beach and already thinking about their summer holidays. It needs to change if they are to have any hope.
