Galatasaray are keen on Rio Ferdinand but reports claim a further six clubs are targeting the Manchester United defender.
Ferdinand’s contract at Old Trafford is up for renewal but following the shock announcement that Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season, the defender could also decide to cut all ties with the club.
Ferguson wanted to keep Ferdinand on board and new incoming boss David Moyes will no doubt want to do the same, but there is still a chance he could move on.
Turkish giants Galatasaray are ready to offer him a deal while Monaco and Brazilian side Flamengo are keen along with two clubs from Russia and two from the middle east.
“Rio and United always agreed he’d talk about his contract situation once the season ended,” a source close to the player has been quoted as saying.
“There are a plenty of clubs out there who want him. He’ll be the best free transfer in English football.”
Ferdinand will hold talks with Moyes before making a decision but there will be no shortage of offers should he fancy one last pay day.
