Real Madrid target Man United struggler as Ronaldo replacement

Manchester United summer signing Memphis Depay has emerged as a shock target for Real Madrid as they plan for life after Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports from Don Balon.

The Netherlands international only signed for the Red Devils from PSV Eindhoven during the last transfer window, but his impact at Old Trafford has been minimal resulting in manager Louis van Gaal electing to drop him from his starting XI altogether in recent weeks.

However, despite his struggles in Manchester, Real are reportedly keen on the 21-year-old.

The La Liga giants are growing aware that talismanic attacker Ronaldo, 30, is not getting any younger and president Florentino Perez is a big fan of Depay, who netted 22 Eredivisie goals last term to help PSV to the title.

However, United may demand as much as £64m for their star, who has been compared to CR7 in the past.
