Revealed: 56% of Man United fans would rather Godin than Alderweireld or Boateng

It is little secret that Manchester United require defensive reinforcements if they are to close the gap on Manchester City and make a meaningful title challenge.

The back four that Jose Mourinho relied upon for much of the season was formed of players signed on Sir Alex Ferguson’s watch and that desperately needs to change if United are to create a springboard for more attractive football and a title win.

With Fred and Diego Dalot in the door, central defence is as pressing a concern as any for Mourinho, who has consistently shown himself to be unconcerned with younger players, may well look to experience once more to rectify the issue.
