The trail went cold during the World Cup but Manchester United have reportedly rekindled their interest in West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic after the Hammers’ extensive summer spending spree.
Manuel Pellegrini has spent big on Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko in order to bring in a new attacking style of play at the London Stadium and that has apparently given Jose Mourinho fresh encouragement that a deal for the Austrian can be done.
The 6ft 4in forward would bring yet more physicality to the United attack as Mourinho doubles down on his philosophy, which contrasts wildly with the ideas of Mauricio Pochettino, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.
Arnautovic is a different type of player to Marcus Rashford but the duo operate in the same area of the pitch – both can play out wide or up front – so we asked United fans whether the West Ham man represents an upgrade.
