Revealed: 60% of Man United fans want Mourinho to swap Pogba for Verratti

The suggestion is that Paul Pogba is best on the left of a central midfield trio in a 4-3-3 but he has performed admirably for France in a lop-sided 4-4-2 en route to the World Cup final.

As Les Bleus have made it through to their second straight major tournament final, via the most difficult route any team have faced out in Russia, the often-criticised midfielder has enjoyed a very solid tournament.

Unlike when he is fielded alongside Nemanja Matic in a 4-2-3-1 at club level, Pogba has managed to marry discipline, physicality, flair and defensive solidity alongside N’Golo Kante and undoubtedly aided by the presence of Blaise Matuidi tucking in to clog up the left.

That should encourage Jose Mourinho if he plans to ask him to play in a more disciplined role in a midfield duo next season, but there have also been reports that Paris Saint-Germain have offered the Portuguese the chance to offload his most expensive headache in exchange for Marco Verratti.

So, we asked United fans whether they’d rather have the Italian, valued at £63m by Transfermarkt, and 60 per cent of them would, as you can see from the full results below…
